As far as historical landmarks in the British Virgin Islands go, Fort Recovery is one of the most famous ones.
The Fort is located in Tortola and was referred to as Tower Fort in ancient times. It was built in 1620 by the Dutch and was used as a recovery point for wounded soldiers, hence its name. Fort Recovery was built quite close to the sea and is surrounded by tropical flowers and palm trees.
If you are going to visit Fort Recovery, then you need not worry about accommodation. A hotel has been built around the fort with quality villas and suites. The rooms are on the beach allowing guests to have a spectacular view of the sunset and sunrise.
Although there are various destinations in BVI, Fort Recovery is one that is not easy to bypass. The numerous activities available including the Sunset yoga classes, diving, and the fly-fishing trips, make the Fort one of the best recreational spots in the British Virgin Islands.
