Honeymoon Bay, also called Honeymoon Beach, is a popular beach on Water Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Water Island lies directly to the south of St. Thomas. It’s a relatively small island (at 495 acres it’s the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands) but packed with interesting wildlife, fun activities, and of course a few top-tier beaches.
If you want to get away from bustling Charlotte Amalie, Water Island, with a population of just over 200, is ideal. Honeymoon Bay is the most attractive destination on the island. Many visitors like to take the bike paths around the island and end their little journey on the beach.
Honeymoon Beach itself is a gorgeous white sand beach, with light blue waters that are perfect for wading in. On the left side of the beach is an area that’s good for snorkeling if you want to give it a try. There usually aren’t very many beachgoers here, making it a great secluded paradise, except for later in the afternoon when charter boats from nearby St. Thomas come into the bay. Little thatched umbrellas with tables dot the white sands. Dinghy’s Beach Bar and Grill is a well-regarded restaurant right on Honeymoon Beach which offers great local cuisine, live music, and a relaxing atmosphere for when you need to relax in a nice air-conditioned environment.
